What is acai berry ?

The acai berry (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is a dark purple fruit about the size of a grape that grows on the acai palm trees in the Amazon rain forest in Brazil. It is extremely rich in nutrients and is currently being hailed as the world’s #1 superfood.

Why is acai berry being called the #1 Superfood by Oprah, doctors and others?

The berry is extremely rich in antioxidants, amino acids, essential fatty acids, fiber and other important nutrients. With 15-20 times the antioxidants as red grapes, it is one of the best sources of antioxidants of any food. By preventing cell damaging effects of free radicals, antioxidants can help prevent diseases like heart disease and some neurological diseases and may also help protect against a number of cancers.

Can I get acai berries from my local supermarket?

Unfortunately, the berries only grow in the Amazon rain forest in Brazil and usually spoil within a day after harvesting. So it is not possible to get fresh berries from your local supermarket. Does the acai berry have any side effects?

There are no known side effects of acai. Natives of the Amazon region have made this fruit a major portion of their diet for hundreds of years. Asking if there are any acai side effects is a little like asking if there are side effects to eating apples. Read more about side effects.

Can acai berry help me lose weight?

While acai berry isn’t a magic bullet to help you shed dozens of pounds overnight, the fatty acids, fiber, amino acids and other nutrients can help boost metabolism, suppress appetite and build muscle. Does acai berry really help prevent cancer?

Due to the extremely high concentration of antioxidants in acai, a recent study by the University of Florida found that acai killed cancer cells in lab tests. And although we can’t claim that acai is the cure for cancer, this is a very encouraging development. This is just one of the reasons that acai is being touted as the #1 Superfood in the world.

Can acai berry improve sex drive?

A benefit of acai berry that’s rarely talked about is the fact that it can easily increase your libido. Of course, if you think about it, it makes sense.
